Bourton on the Water

Amazingly beautiful village with incredible architectural style of pitched roof and cotswold stone walls brings the place to life with vibrance and animosity
I fell in love with Bourton on the Water immediately when I saw the ducks travelling through the river in the middle of the estates
Here was the miniature musuem of Bourton on the Water
The tiny to scale models was absolutely astounding, you'd think creating a scaled model was hard
These guys put me to shame, all the these tiny stone models were all hand made, with 100% real materials, yes real materials.
Most of the houses and shops in Bourton were build with cotswold stone if im not wrong
Cotswold stone is a yellow oolithic limestone quarried in many places in Cotswold Hills
I felt like a giant in the miniature town

That's how detailed the models were, absolutely astounding piece of art.
Like I said these were built with natural real materials, spitting image of how the real scale Bourton on the Water would be.
Here's Matt walking down the street of tiny Bourton on the Water
It's strange to find out that the architecture in England dates back so long
Most of the architecture in England is older then Singapore
These are the buildings that weathered through great amounts of historical events and stood erect through out.
Stone was utilized in abundance in England
As for Singapore, we talk to the precast concrete experts and POW you get a massive erect structure known as the HDB solving our major accommodation problems
We head down to this crazy bird park, and i mean crazy
The birds they don't get locked up in cages or glass boxes
They were allowed to roam free in the reserve
I thought it was absolutely cool because you can pretty get up close and personal with these birds
Birdland is set in woodland, river and gardens. this natural setting is inhabited by over 500 birds. Flamingos, pelicans, penguins, cranes, storks, cassowary and waterfowl can be seen on various aspects of the water habitat. Over 50 aviaries of parrots, falcons, pheasants, hornbills, toucans, touracos, pigeons, ibis and many more. The Desert House is home to the more delicate species.
Discovery Zone is an indoor educational area with Trigg Hall lecture theatre. There is also the new 2.5 acre Marshmouth Nature Reserve, inhabited by many species from otter and water vole to dragonflies and kingfishers.
Also new the Encounter Zone where you can mneet keepers with snakes, spiders, birds and much more.
This was captured at the end of the day, i know it's amazing
Felt like God was touching earth with His brilliance
This was the cafe where we had our battered cod fish with chips and peas
Unfortunately i was far too hungry to be bothered take a few snaps

saw a couple of Emu's
The king penguins were amazing shit when up close
You can really feel that they owned that piece of territory they had

Here's the tiny Chinese restuarants
Chinese food is a rarity in England
I know, how do i survive right?
I do miss life in Singapore
But i enjoy embracing this experience in England

Massive amount of ducks swimming in the river
I came across an amazing crystal store
nearly wanted to buy the whole store!
In the end i settled for an amazing Quartz crystal pendent

Spacesuit

Recently I came across a particularly intriguing article about the spacesuit. Yes the very one that Neil Armstrong wore to travel to the moon. You might think that it’s just an ordinary piece of work that aids a capable man to travel not just into space but travel to other planets. This twenty one layers of fabric each with distinct yet interconnected function that brought man to explore beyond the boundaries of earth. This was fashioned by seamstress who fashioned bras and women underwear. This book Spacesuit by Nicolas de Monchaux is about redundancy and interdependence and about the distinctions between natural and man-made complexity; it educates us with the virtues of adaptation and to see the future as a set of possibilities. There's more to it then just a simple spacesuit.

The Curated Wardrobe: Less is more

This week I read a particularly interesting article about how fashion evolved, affecting everything surrounding us.
It describes how the definition of luxury has changed over time.
For the love of fashion, demands of fashionable clothes are sky rocketing.
And owning a lot of clothes to the point that you fill your wardrobe to the brim has become overrated.
High street stores are capable of replicating catwalk masterpieces into your hands
Stores like h&m are able to offer you fast fashion at affordable prices.
So everyone is buying more. You become everyone
Homogeneous
So how do you tackle this problem?
As luxury is always the adverse of homogeneous
Getting rid of your average pieces and save the exceptional clothes.
It takes skill to form a curated wardrobe, only will you understand fashion truly.
Just like an art gallery, you only display the finest pieces so as to not clutter and distract.
Having a cluttered wardrobe will most probably trap you into a wardrobe malfunction, by having too many to focus on.
Go minimalist haha.
It requires you to have style, to be able to pick the few pieces and still look fabulous
It doesn't have to be your most expensive piece, it could be really cheap.
Having too many clothes and accessories can hinder you from making proper decisions
Here's the article if you're interested in more.

The wild and the woods

I apologize for not being able to keep up to date with my entries
Just being plain lazy and was mostly due to my new itouch taking away my attention from using my laptop.
This time we head up to the woods which wasn't really far from where we live
As usual it was freezing but i was well prepared and i'm beginning to get use to the cold
As usual but still a beauty for me, the vast skies and the fields of soft grass
My hot husband
The view from the woods, you never get anything like this in singapore
Neither the scenery nor the ambience could be replicated in anyway. Even if people tried replicating nature, it's just not the same.
It's absolutely amazing to be walking among the tall trees producing this amazing aroma of damp ground dirt with scent of trees, twigs and dried leaves.

My first ladybug, isn't she beautiful?
Came down to the cafe around the corner, very cozy!
Stafford park feeding the ducks and a bloody greedy swan
Mind you swans are a menace, they may look graceful but don't let looks deceive you.
They could bite your fingers off if they decides to

Sometimes waking up felt like this
This was where i had my very first pub meal!
Unfortunately i failed to take photos of the interior cause i can't be bothered
This was the appetizer i had, beer battered mushrooms with rocket

Gloucester Cathedral

One of my first outing is a trip down to Gloucester
Gloucester is another town with a lot of tudor buildings and many cultural history embedded in it
One of the historical landmark is the Gloucester Cathedral
Inside the cathedral was simply amazing, i have never stepped into such a divine interior
It was a little scary but it was extremely remarkable
Harry Potter was shot in the corridors of the cathedral
I kept saying 'Slytherin, Slytherin' while i was in this corridor
A horrible attempt to be the basilisk in Harry Potter
You can sort of feel God's sovereignty weighing over you
Like God is watching over you with the atmosphere in the Cathedral
And this cathedral was built hundreds of years ago
Imagine all these details done without the technology we have today
Is stunning, it was an ultimate work of art
How did the architects who designed the cathedral build and construct it is beyond me.

It was bloody cold that day
literally freezing my fingers off
It felt like it was going to snow that day
My teeth never stopped clattering
