Joust at Berkeley Castle!

I had no idea the joust was this big of an event well basically because we don't have the luxury of holding massive events like this and we don't know where to start. Apparently there weren't a lot of people there because they weren't really sure if the joust event was on cause it hasn't been organized for the past few years.
Here is the typical jester welcoming you into this medieval fair.

So yes you must be wondering what happens in this particular medieval fair. They would normally reenact series of events like a scrimmage, battles and people dressing up to bring the medieval experience to life.

That's Berkeley castle and what's going to happen is that they will reenact the battle of the Civil War during the 1645. Giving us just a taste of what history was like to experience it first hand in the all so modern society.

Here is a child in a historical hand crafted wooden push trolley.

The puppeteer, what's a medieval fair without puppets to mesmerize children? Back then there were no TV or Xbox or Computer and obviously nowhere near internet. The local entertainment.

What I love about how they organized it is that they allow you to take part in such medieval affairs. By displaying armor openly telling you about all the properties and how you use them, allowing you to TRY THEM ON! I know bizarre. These were things you see in movies and now you get to touch em and try them on!!!

Yes this helmet was probably once worn by a peasant to protect his head from arrows but I don't understand how it protects them when it weighs as much as my head.

When you think a helmet that weighs as much as your head is heavy, check out how much weight the knight has to put on his body! the chain mail alone is 20kg. Can you imagine? You'd be a probably trying to balance yourself in that much of weight, praying not to fall. The sword itself weighs as much as a big sack of rice.

These 2 men gave us a spectacular performance, men in armor fight to the death! Well not really it was just whoever drew blood first won and it's to show you the characteristics of the armor itself compared to peasant armor and how it was like to experience a full on fight to your death battle.

Also teaching you various techniques on how to use a sword to the max. And of course defend yourself.
